Age below the Bar

Growing older crawls into the mind of professionals, who are on the hunt for new jobs and some may worry that they may not be considered viable by hiring managers. On the contrary, mature professionals are more qualified than their younger counterparts.

Here are a few ways to overcome the age factor in your resume:

Focus on the most recent experience: People shouldn’t worry about going back more than 15 years while preparing their resumes. This makes sense, as what was learnt during that era is probably not needed anyway.

Highlight your strengths: Employers are interested in your achievements and strengths. Thus, make it a point to highlight them upfront.

Keep yourself current: Employers fear that mature workers may not be able to keep up with latest advancements. Prove them wrong by discussing with them your current achievements(during an interview) and highlighting them on your public profile e.g. LinkedIn.Irrespective of ageism, not all employers are going to be a good fit.

Some company cultures prefer younger professionals and you may not want to be older than everyone else in such scenarios. Therefore, take your time to find out more about the companies and network thoroughly.
