How to stand out when applying for a Job 1/2

We can all agree that after a certain age, amongst the people we talk to, or the people we meet, nine out of ten are either starting to find a job, looking for a job, or getting out of a job. Today’s fast-moving world revolves all around our work life and how we balance it with our personal life. The first step though, is finding work. Hence the question stands; how can you present yourself in such a way that the employer selects you among all others? Here are some key steps in this direction, and while some of them might be stuff you already know, that doesn’t make them any less important (if not more).

The Resume

Keep your resume short: Your recruiter doesn’t need a novel. Keep proofreading your resume until it contains only the most important aspects that you want the recruiter to know about. It is always advisable to get your resume written or proofread by a professional.

Highlight the key aspects: If the recruiter receives a lot of resumes, there is a good chance of yours getting lost in the mix. Highlight your major skills and achievements RELEVANT to the job to catch their attention.

Use proper fonts: A resume that is easy on the eyes often seems pleasant and reflects that the person behind it is cool, clear-headed and a professional.

Don’t use short forms or slang: This goes without saying that your resume is a professional document and must be treated like one.
