Whatever might be the reason, we all take breaks from our careers. These breaks or gaps can be productive or just blow off some steam. So, how do you justify these gaps in your resume?

If you are planning to take a break make sure that you keep it productive. Secondly, if you took a break, do not make it very obvious on the resume. For example – if you took a break from August to November, after working for two years just write your years of working and not the months. But, a job application would need you to be specific.

What else you can do is not lie about what you did in the gap. Rack up your brains and see if you did something productive and use it to your advantage. You can also present the gap as a spiritual quest to find your purpose, and now are ready to work with a clear head and a goal.

More than anything, honesty is the key to make sure that what information you give in the resume does not come back to haunt you. Whatever the reason be, if you are skillful enough, you will be hired.
